We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Concepts Engineer to join our Ocoee, FL office.

AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic, detail-oriented self-starter to join our team in Orlando, Florida as a Concepts Engineer, supporting the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area). This position will provide career growth opportunities through engagement with FTE toll road infrastructure projects. Project assignments at this level involve a variety of projects, ranging from intersection improvements to interchange reconfigurations and limited access facility widening improvements.

The ideal candidate will have a broad highway engineering background, with experience in limited access roadway and/or tolling facility projects preferred. Willingness to be a team player is a must. Relocation assistance is available.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Responsible for evaluating existing geometric conditions and preparing preliminary improvement alternatives and drawings, including roadway plans, cross sections, typical sections profiles, safety treatments, tolling facility layouts etc. as needed and defined by the overall conceptual improvement plan effort.
• Participates in the production of minor in-house design tasks ranging from the preparation of concept plans.
• Provides assistance and guidance to Design Support staff on project-related issues.
• Individual works closely with the Concept Project Manager.
• Individual will be working full time in the Client’s office and must be able to communicate well with others.
• Position will require the ability to work well in a team environment with other consultants in the Client’s office.
• Position does require time management and organizational skills as the individual will be involved in multiples projects operating on multiple schedules.
• Position may require limited daily and overnight travel on as needed basis to support the Client.

What will you contribute?

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related Transportation Technical Field.
• This position requires minimum of eight (8) years relevant engineering experience in transportation engineering since B.S. and three (3) years of FDOT design experience.
• Experience with toll facility/limited access projects is a plus.
• Must be familiar with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Policy and Procedures, including the Florida Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans. Must be familiar with AASHTO design criteria.
• General Engineering Consultant (GEC) experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office personal computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
• Communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer Intern (EI) Registration in the State of Florida is preferred but not required.
