The Fuel Channel and Fuel Handling Analysis Engineering Manager will lead the reactor components and structural analysis engineering activities for the Qinshan Units 1 and 2 Retube Project and Cernavoda Unit 1 Retube Project

Your role within the team:

Reporting to the Director of CANDU 6 Retube Fuel Channel and Fuel Handling Design Engineering, the Fuel Channel and Fuel Handling Analysis Engineering Manager is responsible for:

• Providing the lead role for the Qinshan Units 1 and 2 Retube and Cernavoda Unit 1 Retube Projects in the areas of fuel channels, fuel channel components, calandria vessel, fuelling machine stress analysis and seismic analysis including the preparation of the design reports and design certifications.
• Provide technical expertise on code and standard requirements such as CSA N285 and ASME Section III Division 1 pressure boundary requirements.
• Ensuring that the activities are executed in accordance with the specified requirements including review and endorsement of the technical content of the deliverables, verification and ensuring a high-quality of deliverables, on‑time and within budget delivery of the deliverables, and approval of the deliverables.
• Interfacing with internal and external customers and stakeholders to establish the priorities, and initiating and approving work proposals for the projects.
• Recruiting, training, developing, motivating, coaching, and evaluating the performance of the team on the Qinshan Units 1 and 2 Retube and Cernavoda Unit 1 Retube Projects.
• Working with the Project Management and Project Engineering Management team to plan the work, ensuring resource availability and allocation, assigning tasks and progress reporting against deliverables.
• Provide strong leadership within the project team, and within the company for aspects related to fuel channel and fuel handling stress analysis engineering.
• Interface with the regulatory bodies such as: TSSA, ISCIR, CNCAN, and CNSC, as required.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals in support of the CANDU 6 Retube Reactor Components Design Engineering scope.
• Ensure that an appropriate combination of skills and experience is maintained within the project to be able to provide technical leadership and specialized expertise as required to support the project including objective setting, and performance reviews.

The ideal candidate:

• University Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 8 years technical experience in the area of fuel channel and structural stress analysis and/or mechanical engineering.
• An overall understanding of the CANDU reactor design, and understanding of the design of the CANDU fuel channel and fuel handling.
• Knowledgeable in CSA N285 and ASME Section III Division 1 pressure boundary requirements.
• General knowledge in finite element analysis techniques and codes such as ANSYS, and LS-DYNA would be beneficial.
• Demonstrated skills in the management/lead of technical projects, and leadership of a highly technical group.
• Demonstrated leadership and people skills to interact with external clients and external organizations, to communicate effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership and people skills to lead a team in the area fuel channel and fuel channel components, and fuel machine stress analysis engineering to accomplish its goals and deliverables.
• Ability to resolve technical issues.
• Foster working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders and maintain creditability and trust via successful delivery of commitments.
• Understanding of quality assurance manuals and procedures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills.
