Mechanical Engineering Student (Winter 2026)

Overview

These positions are for student co-ops. Functionally reporting to the engineering division, the students will be assigned to support various mechanical engineering projects as well as assist with engineering functions and project management on an as-needed basis. he role will provide hands-on experience in various engineering projects, offering valuable insights into the industry and practical application of engineering principles.

Your role

  • Provide support to Mechanical Engineers, Discipline Leads, and Engineering Managers in day-to-day engineering activities and coordination.
  • Support in the development and assembly of engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional mechanical systems.
  • Assist in delivering work in accordance with AtkinsRealis Inc. / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
  • Interface with multi-disciplines and other project sectors (e.g., Document Control, Project Management, field team, etc.) for coordination on assigned task scopes.
  • Collaborate with members of the nuclear team to facilitate the general workflow (e.g., coordinate document reviews and Request for Information (RFI) correspondences).
  • Attend technical and project coordination meetings.
  • Must be team-oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.

About you

  • Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to apply learned principles in developing practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-related software applications, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge/prior working experiences in the nuclear industry is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical and design tools (e.g., MATLAB, and/or MathCAD) is an asset.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with strong multi-tasking coordination skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Fluency in communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability to change and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Program with an accredited Canadian University.
  • Travel to domestic client sites may be required.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is mandatory.
