Real Time Controls Systems Engineer

Your role within the team:

• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
• Timely execution of the assigned scope in the assigned software project capacities.
• Performing the suitability assessment (and qualification where needed) of system hardware and pre‑developed software components.
• Support designing, installation and testing of an assigned product test environment.
• Integrating software and hardware components and preparing software engineering documents such as test procedures, test reports, operation manuals etc.
• Implementing and maintaining key project support systems (i.e., configuration management, document management and change control systems) for DCC Replacement Project.
• Supporting the selection and qualification of Control Systems hardware.
• Assist on preparing validation tests and/or review the results of the validation testing.
• Responsible for change control - Using configuration management system provided by his/her department to maintain software files, release and documentation.
• Preparing and maintaining work plans for the control software change activities.
• Support OPEX Review - Assembling OPEX and assessing what changes should be incorporated in the future designs.
• Report and suggest resolution to any potential impacts to technical quality identified by the various Computer System manufactures and vendors.
• Ensure all work activities are performed safely, in collaboration with the Project Safety Manager.

The ideal candidate:

• Bachelors of Computer / Electrical / Control / Software Engineering degree from a university of recognized standing or eligible to be licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada, Masters. is an asset.
• Minimum 4 to 10 years relevant work experience.
• Computer programming experience
• Engineering drawings interpretation.
• Engineering Change Control knowledge.
• Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Analytical ability and effective decision making.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Situational awareness and effective problem-solving skills.
• Inter-personal communication skills.
• Written/oral communication skills.
