Resident Engineer -Road Works

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced and qualified Resident Engineer – Road Works to join our supervision team for a major roads & infrastructure development project in Qatar.

The ideal candidate will oversee the construction of road and infrastructure works. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of experience, including at least 7 years specifically in roads and infrastructure supervision in Qatar. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise in roads and infrastructure, and the ability to ensure the project is executed in compliance with quality, time, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise all on-site road and infrastructure construction activities in accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications.

• Monitor contractor’s work to ensure compliance with project requirements, local codes, and standards.

• Coordinate and manage inspections, material approvals, testing, and workmanship approvals.

• Interface with other discipline Resident Engineers (utilities, structures, drainage) to ensure seamless delivery of all civil elements.

• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, ITPs, and material submittals.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports documenting progress, quality, safety, and any non-conformance issues.

• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in accordance with QA/QC procedures.

• Lead site meetings with the contractor and provide technical input during construction reviews.

• Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and escalate critical issues to the Senior Resident Engineer.

• Support project close-out, final inspections, and maintenance period reviews.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (WHED-listed university).

• Minimum 15 years total experience, with at least 7 years in road and infrastructure supervision projects.

• Grade A Civil Engineer UPDA/MMUP certificate.

• Preferred – Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional license.

• Minium five years experience in Qatar.

• GCC/Qatar infrastructure projects.

• Excellent command of English (spoken and written).

• Knowledge of Qatar infra/roads standards, road material specs, QA/QC processes, and stakeholder coordination.

• Familiar with document management systems, MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.
