We are seeking a Resident Inspector to join our team in Chicago, IL .

How will you contribute to the team?

• Perform audit/witness hold points for ensuring compliance with all QMS systems (SNC-Lavalin project quality plan, builder quality plans and)

• Oversight of builder/contractors manufacturing process by performing specific process and product reviews centered around FTA and ISO quality system elements

• Maintaining daily log of all inspections

• Document inspection on AtkinsRéalis Quality Inspection Record (QIR) forms.

• Perform random surveillance inspections (SIR) (in plant and supplier)

• Perform First Article Inspection (FAI)

• Perform source inspections as required

• Assist with and or perform scheduled and unscheduled audits of builder and supplier product and processes as necessary:

• Vehicle history books

• Equipment serial numbers

• Welded assemblies  fit up, welding and preheat and interpass control processes

• Welder qualification

• Welding procedure specification (WPS)

• Procedure qualification records (PQR)

• Welding equipment calibration

• Test equipment calibration, multi meters, signal generators, data recorders

• Weld filler metal storage

• Paint and coatings applications and storage

• Small tool calibration ( i.e. torque wrench, crimpers)

• Attend material review boards (MRB) as necessary

• Conduct a weekly manufacturer quality meeting

• Maintain and submit weekly action item lists

• Monitor quality of post-delivery activities, including QIR and SIR processes

• Witness of routine, type, static and dynamic testing and commissioning activities

• Help identify and track early component failures and safety related issues identified during routine test witnessing

• Submit weekly reports

• Apply detailed knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, and APTA,  AWS and  ISO, FTA standards, and other relevant standards to assess compliance

• Manage client relationships, and advise clients on recommended actions relating to active projects

• Deliver review assignments, including test record sheets, inspection reports and open item lists, for accuracy and continuous progress in allocated timescales to meet overall project deadlines

• Identify opportunities for new work, and assist in the development of bid materials in own area of expertise

What will you contribute?

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field and seven years related experience including personnel supervision.

• Professional registration as a PE, CWI, CWE, ASQ CQE, CQA preferred

• NDT related certifications, in VT, UT, MT, PT, RT preferred

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• The ability to work effectively remotely within a virtual team environment

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Lync, Project

• Consulting or rail car builders experience is preferred.

Expected compensation range is between $110,700.00 - 184,500.00 USD Annual depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.

Upon acceptance of an offer, all candidates must go through a drug screen test and background check. AtkinsRéalis is a federal contractor which mandates a satisfactory background screening report and drug test that supersedes state laws.
