Are you an innovative senior civil or structural engineer or consultant who is capable of agile, lateral thinking and enjoys applying and developing technical leadership and engineering management skills to deliver exciting projects? Do you aspire to thrive in a niche industry utilizing your experience in delivery ownership of structural design and assessment, finite element analysis, technical report writing and reviewing, as well as your soft skills in client engagement and engineering management?

The UK is at a critical and historical juncture to develop robust objectives in nuclear energy and defense security.  You will be as an AtkinsRéalis engineer at the core of these significant challenges innovating and developing advanced solutions to bridge the energy shortfall and support the expansion of defense capabilities.

As one of our key involvements within the nuclear energy sector, AtkinsRéalis' contribution to UK government funded Great British Nuclear (GBN) competition is setting a global benchmark in nuclear technology, paving the way for a thriving career for our engineers involved in Rolls-Royce UK's SMR and GE Hitachi's BWRX-300 projects.

On defense projects, one major example of our many key contributions is our PROPEL joint venture with Mott MacDonald to double the size of the Raynes way site for the design the new nuclear manufacturing facilities. AtkinsRéalis will also be supporting the incoming fissile construction partner to deliver them.

We are looking for fulltime senior civil and structural engineers to join our newly established and growing team in Manchester and Sheffield offices.

As a technical and managerial leader, you will oversee multidisciplinary projects, engage with clients, develop teams, and contribute to securing future work.

You will bring demonstrable design and management experience in the nuclear sector, including line and team management, mentoring junior engineers, and the ability to support growth of our Power New Build business. If you are an established industry expert looking for a new challenge, we want to hear from you. You will be working a minimum of 3 days per week from a Power New Build office or client office.

  • Leadership of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Managing and mentoring multiple team members, developing junior engineers, and providing technical oversight.
  • Client and stakeholder engagement, understanding their needs and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Strategic business development, including writing bids, securing new work, and expanding client relationships.

What You Can Bring:

  • A chartered status with a recognised civil or structural engineering institution (IStructE, ICE, or equivalent).
  • A passion for leading and inspiring teams while fostering technical excellence.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to influence clients, develop business opportunities, and secure projects.
  • The ability to think innovatively, simplify complex problems, and deliver practical, proportionate solutions.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting and shaping the future of the UK's nuclear energy sector.
