AtkinsRéalis is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Materials Engineer to lead materials approval, testing supervision, and compliance monitoring for a Roads and Infrastructure Project. The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating material specifications, overseeing site and laboratory testing, and ensuring all materials used are in full compliance with Ashghal, QCS, and international standards.

This role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 7 years in materials engineering within major roads and infrastructure projects in Qatar.

Responsibilities:

• Review and approve materials submittals, material source approvals, and compliance certifications submitted by the contractor.
• Ensure all construction materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregates, pipes, etc.) meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
• Supervise on-site and third-party laboratory testing activities in coordination with QA/QC and site inspectors.
• Coordinate sampling, test witnessing, and verification of test results for compliance and traceability.
• Monitor and control quality of asphalt works, concrete mix design approvals, geotechnical materials, backfill layers, and structural fill.
• Prepare materials compliance reports and maintain logs for submittals, approvals, and test results.
• Manage issues related to non-conforming materials, testing failures, and propose technical corrective actions.
• Liaise with Ashghal’s Materials and Quality departments for clarification, re-testing, and external approvals.
• Provide technical input on pavement structures, trench backfilling, waterproofing materials, and special coatings as needed.
• Support the QA/QC Manager in audits and monthly quality reporting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or Materials Science (from WHED-listed university).
• Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 7 in materials testing and approval for infrastructure projects.
• Additional certification in materials testing or ISO 17025 (preferred).
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
• Skilled in Material approval and certification procedures of Ashghal.
• Familiar with document management systems (Ashghal DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.

Key Competencies:

• Expert in construction material standards (QCS, AASHTO, ASTM, BS EN).
• Proven experience with asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and trench backfill quality control.
• Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and material compliance verification.
• Ability to interpret technical data and lead root cause analysis for material-related issues.
• Attention to detail and commitment to documentation and traceability.
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary site teams.
