Bus Transport Network Modelling
- Develop and maintain transport models tailored to Riyadh's public transport expansion, focusing on metro and bus integration.
- Utilize fundamental transport modelling techniques to simulate the impact of new vehicles, depots, and service routes.
Bus Data Analysis and Forecasting
- Analyze ridership trends, travel demand, and population growth using readily available datasets and in-house tools.
- Produce accurate, actionable demand forecasts to support planning decisions.
Bus Depot and Fleet Planning
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to determine optimal depot locations and fleet allocation strategies based on expansion needs.
- Develop depot strategies, including:
- Assessing current capacity and identifying gaps.
- Proposing locations for new depots aligned with operational efficiency and urban growth.
- Optimizing depot functions to support increased fleet sizes and multi-modal operations.
- Evaluating environmental and sustainability impacts of depot locations and operations.
- Ensure modeling accounts for operational constraints and long-term growth requirements.
Scenario Planning for Major Events
- Conduct manual or semi-automated scenario analysis for large-scale events, such as Expo 2030 and World Cup 2034, to anticipate and plan for increased demand.
- Propose strategies for service optimization during peak periods.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with interdepartmental teams to align transport models with operational insights.
- Communicate findings effectively through visual presentations, reports, and stakeholder briefings.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the Public Transport Sector with demonstrable public transport planning and modelling experience, preferably with a focus on large urban transit systems in an Operator/Transport Authority environment.
- Proficiency in transport modeling software (e.g., PTV Visum, VISSUM, CUBE, or similar).
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced tools such as Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., Google Earth Pro or QGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Familiarity with manual and formula-driven transport modeling approaches (e.g., spreadsheet-based demand models).
- Expertise in creating and optimizing transport service schedules, including managing frequencies, headways, and shifts to meet demand effectively.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of RCRC’s public transport strategy and expansion plans.
- Experience with large-scale transport projects in rapidly growing urban environments.
