AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern – Fall 2025 to join our Austin, TX office.

Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
• Participate in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
• Prepare assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
• Perform data acquisition and analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
• Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
• Perform engineering calculations.
• Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
• Perform other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EXPERIENCE: Experience with CAD software program(s) is a plus, but not required.
• EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Fall 2025).
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn. Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).
• PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: None.
