We are seeking a Waste Transportation Specialist Energy, to join our team in the Oak Ridge, TN office.

How will you contribute to the team?  

• Serves as a transportation subject matter expert with advanced training in DOT requirements covering air, highway, and rail shipments of Hazardous Materials, including radioactive materials and waste. 

• Performs oversight of waste transportation processes and assistances as necessary to support continuous and safe waste transportation operations.

• Will act as the lead transportation specialist for day-to-day operations.

• Ensures compliance with all DOT, Site and Procedural requirements.

• Conducts/assists with peer reviews on all shipments including paperwork and packaging reviews.

• Interfaces with Project Manager and Client and successfully delivers transportation solutions in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.

• Performs shipments to various Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities.

• Performs multiple shipments per day.

• Maintains monthly shipment schedules.

• Performs personnel training as necessary for new/revised procedures and/or process modifications.

• Assists in preparation and revision of transportation technical documents and procedures supporting the project.

• Interfaces with Quality Assurance and Procurement personnel and approves purchase requisitions to ensure project procurement quality requirements are identified and incorporated into procurement documents.

• Performs routine entry into radiological material storage areas, wearing all required PPE.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What will you contribute?  

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent from accredited academic program.

• 5 years of experience performing “like-type” work and advanced training in DOT requirements covering air, highway, and rail shipments of Hazardous Materials, including radioactive materials and waste.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience performing 2-4 waste shipments per week. 

• Demonstrated technical skills and personnel management abilities.

• Demonstrated experience supporting Federal Motor Carrier requirements.

• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors.

• Must be viewed by Client and Project Manager as an expert in waste transportation.

• Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

• Must be a self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.

• Demonstrated ability applying experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

• Experience working at a RCRA permitted facility and maintaining a DOE/NNSA facility within prescribed facility safety envelope.

• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate.

• Ability to Obtain USDOE Security Clearance.

• Must be a U.S citizen in order to be considered.
