GTC Environment Practice Director
Job Purpose
Lead the Environment practice for AtkinsRéalis in India, ensuring technical excellence, growth, and market leadership across all sectors including Transportation, Buildings & Places, Nuclear, Minerals & Metals, Industrial, Power & Renewables, and Water. Champion cross-regional collaboration, knowledge transfer, and the integration of international best practices to position the GTC as a trusted global practice.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
Develop and implement the Environment team strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and region and sector-specific needs.
Drive business development and bidding activities, supporting key regional markets (UK, Middle East, Canada, US) and expanding the project pipeline.
Strengthen and diversify the team's capabilities, service offerings, and GTC reputation.
Collaborate closely with UK practice directors to align delivery models.
Cross-Regional Collaboration, Knowledge Transfer & Relationship Building
Foster strong professional relationships and collaboration between GTC and global teams, acting as a bridge to facilitate knowledge sharing and alignment of best practices.
Enable structured knowledge transfer and integration of international standards, ensuring the GTC E&S team is fully embedded in global delivery models.
Develop and implement mechanisms for sharing lessons learned, technical guidance, and innovations across regions.
Serve as a client-facing lead on select projects, maintaining and cultivating client relationships to drive repeat business and new opportunities.
Technical Excellence, Quality Assurance & Guidance Development
Champion rigorous quality assurance (QA) and CMS processes, including review and authorization of deliverables.
Lead the development, updating, and dissemination of training materials, guidance documents, and digital resources to support consistent quality and upskilling across the team. Maintain training libraries and track progression. Coordinates UK–India visits for upskilling.
Identify service lines for GTC expansion and push bid directors to ensure appropriate GTC inputs to our proposals.
Innovation, Digital Transformation & Process Improvement
Champion the adoption of digital solutions and automation to enhance service delivery and client value.
Identify and implement measures to improve workflows, communication, and technical outputs.
Drive standardization and continuous improvement of processes in line with global best practices.
Team Development, Recruitment & Mentoring
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous learning.
Collaborate with local and global leaders to identify talent needs, support recruitment, and build a high-performing, diverse Environment team with low turnover.
Assess team competency, ensure succession planning, and provide learning and development opportunities, including support for professional membership and chartership.
Project Execution, Team Utilization & Revenue Performance
Oversee project execution and task delivery, managing day-to-day operations, team utilization, and resource allocation to meet regional and global requirements.
Monitor and drive team utilization rates, ensuring optimal deployment of resources to achieve commercial targets and sustained financial performance.
Track, analyze, and report on revenue performance, utilization, and other key performance indicators (KPIs), proactively addressing variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, contributing to the overall profitability and growth of the E&S practice.
Change Leadership, Communication & Cultural Agility
Lead teams through organizational change, demonstrating adaptability and cultural awareness in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.
Develop and execute effective communication strategies to ensure alignment of technical standards, quality, and delivery expectations across regions.
Foster a culture of inclusion, adaptability, and high performance.
ESG, Reporting & Compliance
Lead ESG strategy and reporting initiatives, ensuring alignment with global frameworks.
Oversee risk management and compliance, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
Qualifications
Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., architecture, engineering, sustainability, environment); a master's degree is highly desirable.
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in consulting, with at least 5 years in senior management of multidisciplinary E&S teams.
Proven experience delivering sustainability and environmental solutions across multiple sectors and international markets.
Strong working knowledge of international standards, regulatory frameworks, and best practices (UK, EU, Middle East, US etc.).
Proficiency with digital tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Power BI, carbon accounting platforms) and a track record of driving digital transformation.
Recognized certifications (e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP, BREEAM AP, IEMA, CIEEM, GRI, TCFD) are highly desirable.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report writing skills.
