Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled electrical engineer to join our team at our Dublin office to play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative electrical design solutions for some of the most exciting building projects in Ireland, the UK and internationally.
Your role will include working with a range of clients/stakeholders including major utilities and large global demand customers in a rapidly changing energy sector.
Your role
The role is a permanent position within our team for an ambitious and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer. Reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of tasks including:
- Extensive experience in design and owners engineering of high-voltage substations and grid development projects.
- Review HV plant aspects including layouts, earthing, interlocking, busbar calculations, and technical specifications.
- Review and assess detailed designs for compliance with outline design and functional specifications, including assessment of proposed amendments or variations.
- Provide input into or produce aspects of contestable specification packs (schematics, interlocking, SLDs, substation layout drawings) and provide expertise on HV cables, stations and OHL for customer projects.
- Equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment.
- Providing engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructural development projects through all lifecycle stages from feasibility and front‑end engineering to detailed design, site construction monitoring and commissioning.
- Delivering projects in new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, smart‑grid solutions, waste‑to‑energy and related emerging areas.
- Supporting tendering activities and contributing to technical offers.

About you
- Qualified to degree level and will ideally be, or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Proven experience in HV substation design (132kV-400kV), ideally within Ireland and UK transmission and distribution environments.
- High level of Familiarity and experiences with Irish TSO and DNO standards and processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams and contribute to strategic project delivery.
- Experience relating to design, delivery and supervision of HV substation solutions (110kV to 400kV).
Preferred, but not necessary
- Experience in development of specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment.
- Experience in design of Overhead Line Systems for transmission networks.
- Experience in design of HV cable systems (minimum 110kV).
- Experience in site construction and/or testing/commissioning for HV plant systems.
- Experience in earthing software design (CDEGs) and system studies/protection co-ordination software (ETAP).
- Experience in control and protection systems design.
- Masters Degree.
