The role focuses on drainage systems for municipal roads, regional roads, and provincial highways, designed in compliance with MTO, regional, and municipal standards.
The successful candidate will support and lead the development of technically sound, constructible drainage solutions integrated with roadway geometry, grading, and utility layouts. This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of Ontario transportation and drainage design practices.
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on transportation safety, resilience, and sustainability by delivering robust drainage solutions for complex infrastructure projects. It is ideal for an engineer who values technical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful public infrastructure work.

- Sheet flow, spread control, and overland flow routing.
- Complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support roadway drainage design, including:
- Catchment delineation and runoff calculations.
- Minor and major system capacity analysis.
- Culvert hydraulic performance and roadway overtopping assessment.
- Prepare detailed design drawings and profiles suitable for Issue for Tender (IFT) and construction, including:
- Drainage area plans.
- Storm sewer plans and profiles.
- Culvert details and erosion protection measures.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Ontario and GTA-area standards, including:
- MTO Drainage Management Manual and MTO design standards.
- Regional and municipal road design guidelines (e.g., GTA municipalities and regions).
- Applicable stormwater management and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate drainage design with:
- Roadway geometry and grading.
- Traffic staging and construction phasing.
- Utilities and municipal servicing.
- Environmental and permitting constraints.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including:
- Shop drawing and submittal reviews.
- Responses to RFIs.
- Field reviews and site coordination.
- Apply professional judgment to balance safety, drainage performance, constructability, and long‑term maintenance.
