Whitehaven, Cumbria, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

Overview

We are looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join the Robotics & Technology team based in the Westlakes office in Whitehaven. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to support the delivery of novel robotics based projects on nuclear licensed sites.

The candidate will be responsible for the delivery of enabling works for system deployment, leading operations on client sites during the active demonstration of novel technologies, and support and oversight of the ongoing business-as-usual deployments of robotic systems on nuclear sites. The role will require frequent periods of time based on client sites, working with stakeholders to facilitate deployments.

The ideal candidate will have a background in operations and/or maintenance within a highly regulated industry.

Your role

  • Coordinate and oversee complex deployments of robotic systems, engaging with internal and external stakeholders across plant, engineering, construction, and project management disciplines.
  • Act as the operational lead during active demonstration of novel systems or activities, taking direct responsibility for hands‑on deployment of the systems; to safely and effectively prove the concept prior to handover into business-as-usual operations.
  • Lead enabling works for system deployments, including Glovebox and tasks suitability assessments and coordination of design and construction activities.
  • Autonomously develop and collaate documentation for system deployments including work pack documentation, operating instructions, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Provide oversight of system deployments, supervision of operational activities and ensure operations are conducted in line with contractual arrangements and client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training for internal and external system operators, including the production of training materials.
  • Manage system fleet, including logging the deployment history for each system, controlling configuration changes, and scheduling and supervising maintenance activities.
  • Support system integration activities and assist in the commissioning of new systems, including functional testing and verification of safety functions, prior to their active use on client sites.
