AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to play a leading role in our London-based landscape architecture and urban design team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to influence major UK and international projects, lead design excellence, and support the growth of a highly regarded multidisciplinary practice.
You will work across infrastructure, regeneration, energy, transport, and major mixed‑use developments, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, and clients to shape resilient, inclusive, and inspiring places.

Our practice wide team of 75 landscape architects, urban designers and masterplanners work throughout the UK and internationally, delivering award-winning and inspiring designs that transform people's lives. We have an established innovative team within Atkins with over 40 years of experience. We are proud of our rich heritage as one of UK's larger landscape practices and the future growth opportunities available within the Atkins landscape, urban design architecture and masterplanning practice.
Your role
As a Principal Landscape Architect, you will provide design leadership, technical expertise, and strategic direction across complex projects, while mentoring teams and strengthening client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the design, coordination, and delivery of landscape and public realm projects at all stages.
- Provide input into a diverse portfolio of projects and sectors including town centre regeneration, public realm, reservoirs, airports, schools, residential and highways.
- Mentor and manage landscape architects and supporting professional development.
- Contributing to business development, bids, and client engagement, including presentations and interviews.
- Ensure high standards of design quality, sustainability, and compliance.
- Represent AtkinsRéalis externally and helping to shape the future direction of the landscape discipline.

About You
You will be a confident, respected professional with strong leadership credentials and a passion for high‑quality landscape design.
Essential requirements:
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or equivalent with at least 5 years post chartership experience.
- Experience in a senior or principal role within a consultancy environment.
- Proven track record delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong design capability, technical knowledge, and understanding of UK planning processes.
- Experience leading teams, managing project delivery, and engaging directly with clients.
- Excellent communication, report‑writing, and presentation skills.
- Proven design and software capabilities.
Desirable:
- Experience in infrastructure, transport, energy, or large‑scale regeneration projects.
- Business development or work‑winning experience.
- International project exposure.
