Overview
Join a high-impact engineering team delivering one of British Columbia's most significant transit infrastructure projects. As an Electrical Engineering-in-Training (EIT) – Field Engineer, you will contribute to the Surrey Langley SkyTrain (SLS) project by supporting the installation and delivery of advanced rail electrification systems, including traction power and Linear Induction Motor (LIM) technologies. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering and construction environment, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle while helping shape innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
Your Role
- Support field inspection and verification of LIM and traction power rail systems to ensure compliance with engineering standards and design specifications
- Monitor contractor installation activities and assist in resolving field issues, RFIs, and non-conformances (NCRs)
- Coordinate with construction teams, contractors, and engineering stakeholders to facilitate installation progress and system integration
- Participate in site inspections, safety walks, and project meetings while maintaining accurate documentation and reports
- Assist with testing, commissioning, energization, and system handover activities
- Contribute to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of critical rail electrification infrastructure
- Gain practical exposure to field engineering, system interfaces, and commissioning processes on a major infrastructure project
About You
- Proficiency in applying electrical engineering fundamentals in infrastructure or power systems environments
- Ability to support inspection, testing, and commissioning activities in a field-based construction setting
- Aptitude for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Ability to analyze technical issues and contribute to effective problem-solving in real time
- Strong communication skills with attention to detail and commitment to safety excellence

Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000 - $80,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
