Architect / Architect Technologist with Rail

Birmingham, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Architect / Architectural Technologist to join our Birmingham Studio in support of the architectural design for the Midlands Rail Hub programme, a transformative project that will significantly improve rail connectivity across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. This appointment will be on a contract basis.

AtkinsRéalis is an exciting and inspirational place to work. As a top five AJ100 practice with global reach and depth of multidisciplinary expertise, we believe that good design has the power to positively transform people's lives. We thrive on addressing our clients' most complex challenges across sectors including Education, Transportation, Commercial, Residential, Energy, Defence and Workplace.

Our Birmingham studio brings together Architects, Architectural Technologists, Interior Designers, and Structural and Building Services Engineers at all levels—from graduates to senior directors. People are at the heart of our success, and we prioritise supporting, training and mentoring our teams to remain at the forefront of design and innovation.

We are looking to recruit an Architect / Architectural Technologist with relevant years post‑qualification experience, specifically in the transportation and rail sectors. This opportunity is well suited to individuals who thrive in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment and are eager to contribute to a high‑profile project that will enable up to 300 additional trains per day across the West Midlands, improving services between Birmingham and more than 50 locations across the Midlands and Wales.

Your role

  • Contribute to the Architecture team's design and development work for the reconfiguration of rail services across Birmingham and the wider region.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project environment, including building design and rail disciplines.
  • Deliver high‑quality architectural technical drawings, schedules and specifications.
  • Ensure design responses are pragmatic, meet the client brief and respect site‑specific constraints and opportunities relating to climate, context and culture.
  • Develop strong, narrative‑driven design proposals that enhance our design reputation.
  • Report on project activity, analyse feedback and evaluate success factors.
  • Support the development of design culture and capability within the multidisciplinary team.
