And if being based at home suits you better, our IT systems will make your days just as easy and effective. So, if you have family responsibilities or need to service your car, Atkins will work for you.

Innovation Lead for Carbon and Climate Futures:

Join our Engineering Net Zero Programme (ENZ) as a key influencer with a flair for client engagement, innovation and strategic thinking. Here's your opportunity to work directly with senior management, shaping how some of the world's leading organisations deliver a low-carbon and resilient future. You'll collaborate to integrate carbon reduction approaches into flagship bids and work with teams proactively to provide industry-leading low carbon and net zero solutions for major projects. We'll support you in making your new ideas a reality while trusting you to lead and incubate evolution for ENZ, our global organisation and clients.

Your purpose:

  • Work closely with ENZ’s Win Work and Deliver Work Directors, consistently implementing the Engineering Net Zero win-work strategy and our Whole Life Carbon Management approach on significant bids and existing projects.
  • Support development of new value propositions where innovative solutions and new ways of working can unlock value for our clients and the group.
  • Developing innovation decarbonisation and climate resilience programmes and processes, enabling ENZ to effectively support the business in delivering high-profile projects.
  • Establishing structure and governance while engaging with internal and external stakeholders across the globe.
  • Own and lead the planning and development phase of crucial bids where carbon and resilience are key factors.
  • Proactively securing ongoing subject matter expert contribution in winning proposals for bids.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal networks across all key businesses and regions.
  • Supporting the wider business in embedding carbon reduction into win work and deliver work activities with a focus on major pursuits and projects.
  • Changing cultures and championing/driving innovative or new ways of working.
  • Upskilling others to widen capability and support on bids and capital projects.

What you can bring?

  • An innovative mindset with an ability to think both tactically and strategically.
  • Cross-sector knowledge of innovation to delivering built and natural environment projects and programmes, ideally with knowledge of whole life carbon associated with built assets, including insights on technology, materials, data and digital solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, bringing together people from across the global businesses to develop and share ideas.
  • Experience in supporting winning bids for major opportunities and the ability to prioritise and focus effort where the greatest benefits can be delivered.
  • Be a proactive operator capable of quickly understanding complex technical areas in multiple sectors, assimilating ideas and developing solutions.
  • Be carbon literate and knowledgeable on the principles of Whole Life Carbon Management, and its relevance to the type of projects SNC-Lavalin delivers.
  • The knowledge and desire to work across all markets, including buildings, transportation, water and climate resilience.
  • Understand the key commercial principles around the cost of bidding versus revenue delivered through projects.
  • Being different makes a difference – creative thought, qualitative reasoning, atypical problem-solving, pattern spotting, big-picture thinking, ability to multi-task or single-task focus.
