Lead Planner will play a key role in the successful delivery of large substation project. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all project schedules are effectively developed, managed, and delivered on time, aligning with the highest standards of quality and safety.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Planning Engineer to join our team in Didcot, UK, and play a key role in the successful delivery of large substation project. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all project schedules are effectively developed, managed, and delivered on time, aligning with the highest standards of quality and safety.

What will you do?

  • Project Planning and Scheduling:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 and other planning tools.
    • Define project milestones, critical paths, and key deliverables.
    • Define and develop the WBS and work packages.
    • Integrate engineering, procurement, and construction schedules into a master project schedule.
    • Resource load the programme.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Perform Earned Value Management planning and monitoring.
    • Track and monitor progress against the project baseline.
    • Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports to project stakeholders.
    • Perform delay analysis and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Liaise with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure alignment of schedules.
    • Act as a key interface between the client and internal teams regarding project planning.
    • Facilitate planning workshops and meetings to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize timelines.
  • Risk and Issue Management:
    • Identify potential scheduling risks and provide solutions to mitigate delays.
    • Perform impact analysis of changes to the project scope, timeline, or budget.
    • Perform schedule risk analysis using Primavera Risk Analysis or similar software.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure that planning activities comply with Linxon’s project management standards, client requirements, and UK regulations.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes and tools.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Planning Engineer in EPC projects, preferably in the energy or substation sectors.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other relevant planning tools.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute;
  • Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP); Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering;
  • Earned Value Professional (EVP); Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering;
  • MRICS or MCIOB;
  • Familiarity with the Society of Construction Law’s Delay and Disruption Protocol.
  • Experience with large infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
