The position is to provide management oversight and direction to All project and OEM support to Bruce Power and will report to the SVP, Engineering.

Location –  Port Elgin, Ontario

Your role within the team:

  • Leadership and Oversight responsibility for significant nuclear engineering projects as assigned, such as refurbishment, decommissioning, and OEM support of Bruce Power
  • Leadership and sponsoring of Engineering improvement activities to support customer requirements and our business plan and financial goals.
  • Manage the mentoring and coaching of staff, including development and execution of improvement plans, regular feedback, and succession planning.  Must have strong people skills and demonstrated ability to lead with the highest standard of respect, ethics, and professionalism.
  • Manage all department resources within business plan and financial targets.
  • Responsible for negotiation and communication with Project Partners with respect to Configuration Management requirements and work Processes.
  • Interface with senior Bruce Power executives to ensure engineering support is provided in a timely and effective manner

The ideal candidate:

  • Engineering or technical degree from a university of recognized standing, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years commercial nuclear power plant experience, to include the following:
    • Serving in a leadership position at a commercial nuclear power plant site at department head level as a minimum, including demonstrated experience with improving engineering performance at a plant site.
  • Achievement of a commercial nuclear Operator’s License or Certification is a definite asset.
  • Achievement of engineering license (Canadian PEng or US PE).
  • P.Eng registration with PEO or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership of a significant engineering department. 
  • Experience with leadership of bargaining unit staff is a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of INPO / WANO fundamentals and practices.
  • Extensive experience in managing multi-million-dollar operating budgets.
  • Plant management experience with exposure to day-to-day operations and oversight.
  • Advanced knowledge and capabilities in executing initiatives which improve equipment reliability index, and the performance of O&M and capital projects for nuclear utilities.
  • Hands on experience with efficiency reviews, monitoring and process improvement implementation resulting in improved equipment reliability and site performance.
  • Highly developed capability in the area of costing, scheduling and the overall management of utility operational projects.
  • Involvement and knowledge of the development of the post Fukushima strategies and subsequent capital projects.
  • Extensive exposure and experience with human performance tools for utilities to reduce the human error rate and subsequent lost generation and equipment damage.
  • Comprehensive experience with the safety and operational aspects of commercial reactors
  • Experience with supervision, oversight and plant site maintenance resulting in increased efficiencies and the customization of specialized teams to enhance overall performance.
  • Training experience to develop and execute increased process improvements through the development of programs to address the improvement of work control and efficiency practices.
  • Highly developed safety background with extensive knowledge of nuclear safety practices and requirements through site specific experience and operations focus.
