We are seeking a Senior Biologist to join our Environmental Assessment & Community Engagement (EA&CE) Team, in the Prairie Region. In this role you will lead and support biological assessment, monitoring, reporting and field-based surveys across a wide variety of energy and infrastructure projects. You must have strong work experience in the biological sciences, specializing in vegetation, wetlands, wildlife, or aquatic biology. You will be motivated and detail oriented, and work across our national EACE Team.
Location: Preferably based out of our Calgary or Saskatoon offices. Other key office locations across the Prairie Region could be considered as well, e.g., Edmonton, Regina, or Winnipeg
Your role
- Develop and deliver technical biology studies in support of environmental impact assessments (EIA) and other work programs in various environments, including providing technical advisory to clients and colleagues on legislation, regulation or policy related to key environments/species.
- Provide leadership to the team by mentoring and coaching to support career development, and high technical quality and standards.
- Design and implement field programs for the collection of baseline data, assess projects, guide research, author key reports, and provide senior technical reviews.
- Provide client and stakeholder engagement through conferences, presentations, workshops and publications to communicate the success of our projects.
- Contribute to key EA&CE strategies, including technical excellence, growth, profitability and business development.
- Demonstrable consulting experience and knowledge of ecosystems, protocol requirements and deliverables in the Prairies Region.

About you
- Master's degree and a minimum of 10 years' expertise in vegetation, wetlands, terrestrial, aquatics/fisheries biology or ecology management (or a Bachelor's degree and 12 years' relevant experience).
- Registered Professional Biologist designation (P.Biol./RPBio) and potentially other designations for technical professional sign-off, e.g., Wetland Authenticating Professional.
- Experience overseeing/submitting permits/authorizations under the Federal, Provincial, environmental acts or regulations.
- Experience in Environment Effects Monitoring studies.
- Experience in Impact Assessment methodology and Environmental Assessment process in the Prairies and Canada.
- Knowledge of ecosystems in other Canadian geographies and/or the USA.
- Technical leadership experience on large-scale and complex projects.
