We are currently seeking a Junior Welder to join the CANDU Energy In. in Mississauga, Ontario (GTA).This position is responsible for welding the components of the compression and production equipment. Works with a limited degree of supervision within defined procedures.

Your role within the team

• Familiar with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW
• Reads and interprets blueprints, including reading and interpreting GS's, flowcharts and spool drawings
• Makes comparison of spool drawings to GA's to assure correctness
• Works with different types and sizes of materials
• Familiarity with CAD and related systems.
• Good working knowledge with Computers.
• Understands the safety principles of overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, waterjet cutter, brake press, tube bending machine, hydraulic press and various pneumatic hand tools
• Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with limited supervision
• Carries out directions and works on own initiative with a limited level of supervision
• Works well with other departments.
• Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude

The ideal candidate 

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•  Must have experience operating other shop equipment (e.g., overhead crane, forklift, hand tool)
•  Must have knowledge of different types and sizes of structural materials

• Must show and demonstrate understanding of Welding and related equipment.
• Demonstrate welding skills and willingness to learn.
• Must be able to tack and use grinder
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand basic English
•  Must have knowledge of required tools and maintenance care
• Customer service oriented
• Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations
