This role is part of our Reactor Operations & Decommissioning team.

Requirements: Minimum 2.2 Bachelor’s/BEng degree in Maths, Computer Science, Physics, IT, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Geography, GIS, Geospatial, App Development, Information Technology & Communications, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control & Systems Engineering, or equivalent.

Please note whilst most of our graduate roles start around September 2025, the Reactor Operations and Decommissioning team in Sheffield and Derby is open to candidates starting sooner if you have already graduated from university.

As a Graduate Software & Digital Engineer within Reactor Operations and Decommissioning, you will join a growing and vibrant team and find yourself immersed in a diverse portfolio of work covering the entire nuclear lifecycle in both the civil nuclear sector and UK defence industry. With the knowledge and skills that you’ve gained throughout your studies, you’ll be ready to start this exciting next chapter within a diverse team of highly skilled engineers. As part of our team, you will be empowered to gain broad experience across our portfolio of work with key clients such as EDF and Rolls-Royce.

You can expect to gain experience in a variety of working environments, including being based in our AtkinsRéalis offices around the UK, as well as gaining valuable site-based experience supporting our clients on their operating sites at the forefront of carbon neutral electricity generation or the cutting-edge of the UKs defence capability.

You’ll support the development and delivery of innovative digital solutions across the full project lifecycle in line with our four digital pillars: reality capture, design, site delivery and asset management. Our teams work closely with our clients to offer and develop solutions for a wide range of challenging projects. These solutions range from coding and software development to independent verification and validation, or even whole safety-instrumented systems design. Our locations include most major disciplines and with them, you will be involved in developing innovative and practical solutions for our clients across the UK and further afield. You will work with our project and technical leads as well as our clients to capture their requirements and help develop proposals for new work.

Your team will help you continuously improve and develop your skills, learn new things, and keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry.
