Dillon

My role at AtkinsRéalis as an apprentice quantity surveyor is to assist the Senior quantity surveyor that I work with to monitor the financial health of the projects I’m working on. Also, I draft any changes that occur in the project and build up a request form that is sent to the client to appeal for additional funds to cover the new work on said project.

Apprentices

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. Can’t see your question below? Find more here.

Apprentices

The typical start date for Apprentices is late August to early September. If you’re offered a role with us, your recruiter will discuss the start dates with you.

The length of your Apprenticeship can depend on the Level you’re studying towards. Typically, it’s 2-3 years for Advanced and Higher Level apprenticeships and 4-5 years for Degree apprenticeships.

All Apprentices are permanently employed from day one with AtkinsRéalis.

No, this is organised for you by our dedicated Learning and Development team. Typically, you‘ll hear from the college/university in late July or early August regarding enrolment details.

We’re looking for you to have a clear interest in AtkinsRéalis and motivation for the role you’re applying to. Make sure you demonstrate this through any related projects or modules you might have studied at school and college. Please also include any work experience or voluntary work that you feel is relevant as well as any outside social activities or interests you think would interest us.

Placements

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions. Can’t see your question below? Find more here.

Placements

Our placements are full-time paid work posts, designed to support and complement the academic learning of undergrad and post-grad students who are studying a relevant degree. Whether it’s spending several weeks with us over the summer or 12 months on an industrial placement, you’ll gain invaluable experience in the working world, equipping you with knowledge and understanding of the industry that couldn’t otherwise be obtained through academic studies alone. Plus, it’s a great way to get a taste of what it’s like to work with us.

Our paid placement opportunities are designed for students from all degree years (except the final year of study generally) and include:

Summer placements - lasting at least 8 weeks and are completed during your longest academic break from university. They usually run from June through to August.

Industrial placements – often built into and count towards a degree course. They usually commence at the beginning of the academic year (September/October) and they typically last 12 months.

The exact dates for both types of placements are finalised at the offer stage.

As a placement student you’ll be aligned to a specific office, but you may be required to have a flexible and agile approach to working from other offices, client sites or from home depending on the projects you are working on.
