Wellbeing
Thriving together and reaching your potential
When you join AtkinsRéalis we’ll support you and your priorities, making sure you have a say in creating a workplace where you're free to explore the full potential. While we’re passionate about what we do, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. We have fun and look out for each other – staying well and healthy on our journey together.
Your wellbeing
Our wellbeing approach has been guided by our core value of 'Safety,' and includes five essential pillars: emotional, physical, financial, workplace and social. This framework helps create a culture where people feel safe, supported and uplifted.
All five pillars are interrelated and have their unique impact.
Each employee has a different approach to their wellbeing, and different needs and priorities. They all are on their unique health journey which can fluctuate over time.
Accountability for employee wellbeing lies with the organization, with leaders and teams, and with our employees.
Flexible and remote working
We champion remote and flexible working policies that support your life outside of work – helping you to get the most out of it. That’s why flexible working is a vital part of our collective success. You’ll be trusted to achieve your best at work, while structuring your time around what matters to you.
Employee Assistance Programme
Everyone – at some point in their lives – needs support. Our Employee Assistance Programme is a free and confidential service, offering support seven days a week, 365 days a year, by phone or online. Its purpose is to help ease day to day stress, prevent challenges from boiling over, and pick up your mood and energy when most needed.
Workplaces where everyone belongs
We’re enhancing our current and new locations by making them more inclusive. In the UK we’re introducing welfare rooms equipped with sofas and washing facilities for hands and feet. These nourishing spaces can be used for breastfeeding, prayer, meditation, taking a quiet moment, and contemplation.
Mental health first aiders
In 2017 our UK offices piloted the Mental Health First Aider programme with 40 volunteers. The business followed this up by investing in volunteer training. Our Mental Health First Aiders are trained to offer early support to colleagues facing emotional challenges, mental health concerns or moments of crisis. They are invaluable, and support colleagues by stepping in early when someone may be struggling.
Encouragement and support on the ground
People are central to our wellbeing approach, and we’re proud to champion employee-led networks that connect colleagues together through shared experiences, identities, and interests. Together with our Wellbeing Council, our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) help shape a year-round calendar of events – promoting awareness, encouraging open conversations, and reinforcing our culture of compassion and care. The ERGs include:
- Armed Forces – supporting veterans, reservists, cadets and spouses
- Embrace – driving tangible change for ethnic minority employees
- Empower – promoting gender balance and women's career growth
- Enable – supporting those affected by disability or health conditions
- Equilibrium – for LGBTQ+ employees and allies
- Faith – celebrating identity, belief and belonging
- Menopause in the Workplace – support, education, and open conversation
- Neurodiversity – raising awareness and normalizing conversations
#WOW
Whether it's a small thank-you or a big show of admiration, our recognition platform helps colleagues celebrate each other's impact. When you reach certain milestones, you'll even have the chance to treat yourself to a gift of your choice.
Apex Challenge
Our annual company-wide fitness challenge brings employees together from our offices worldwide. Whether it's gentle yoga or competitive outdoor sports, Apex gets us moving – and brings us together.
No matter what wellbeing means to you, AtkinsRéalis is committed to helping you thrive. Learn more about our culture and support, discover current opportunities below, and explore how you can start and build your career with us.
