We are seeking a Senior Transportation Planner/Engineer to join our team in Denver, Colorado. In this position, you will provide transportation planning-related services. We are a growing practice working on a diverse range of high-profile projects throughout Colorado and other states. We’re looking for a candidate to help deliver projects for local, regional, and key national clients.

The successful candidate will guide technical studies, manage projects and tasks, and contribute expertise in advanced transportation planning concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems.  Experience with traffic modeling software, knowledge of safety tools and procedures, and experience with multi-modal or transit studies is highly desirable.  The individual will manage projects, coordinate with internal project staff and subconsultants, direct junior staff, coordinate with clients, and facilitate engagement with public and agency stakeholders.  The individual will also participate in proposals and business development. 

We have a strong forward-looking workload with major clients including the Colorado Department of Transportation, Denver International Airport, and the Federal Highway Administration. Our teams are currently delivering exciting and nationally important infrastructure projects, including corridor and environmental studies, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. They are developing new technical solutions to meet the tasks and opportunities provided by Intelligent Mobility, electric vehicle infrastructure, and Vision Zero.

How will you contribute to the team?  

  • Manages projects and acts as technical head on multi-disciplinary projects directing junior staff.

  • Coordinates technical work requirements of transportation planning projects.

  • Provides guidance and oversight to multi-disciplinary teams, including providing guidance on technical analysis, report documentation, alternatives analysis, and modeling efforts.

  • Assists with preparation of feasibility studies, public outreach, multi-mobility studies, and safety projects.

  • Uses outcomes of traffic operations modeling software such as Vissim, TransCAD, TransModeler, and Synchro to develop recommendations for project solutions.

  • Use analytic and/or programming skills to evaluate big data.

  • Provides quality control reviews for work performed by others.

  • Manage project scopes, invoices, schedules, and budgets.

  • Coordinates with clients and leads client meetings.

  • Writes project proposal components, develops scopes of work, and compiles fee estimates.

  • Supports business development efforts by meeting with current and potential clients.

What will you contribute?  

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Planning, or related field.

  • This level may be achieved by Engineers and Planners with at least seven years of technical experience since bachelor’s degree.

  • Have a Professional Registration in your field of practice, e.g., P.E. or AICP, with a preferred certification of PTOE, RSP, and/or PMP.

  • Have experience working as a Project Manager.

  • Display strong technical writing and verbal communications skills.

  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Be willing to mentor and guide junior staff.

  • Be dynamic and passionate about the transportation planning field.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record in applying a range of relevant analytical techniques to meet varying client / project requirements on a diverse range of projects.

  • Have good organizational, communication, time, and budget management skills.

  • Manage and work on various projects of various sizes concurrently.

  • Strong project financial management and team management skills is desired.

  • Proven track record of delivering transportation planning projects and ability to contribute to winning work is desired.

Expected compensation range is between $95,000 - $160,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
