Overview
The Rail Control Systems Team is looking for a local candidate for a Transit Security Systems Design Engineer, reporting to the Communications and Control Systems Manager.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
· Support and develop the design of Security Systems including CCTV, Intrusion Detection and Access Control. Support control system design of SCADA systems.
· Support the integration of Security Systems design into Stations, Stops, Traction Power Sub-stations, Maintenance & Storage facilities and Control Centres in accordance with Project requirements.
· Working with the System Design teams, other Domain teams on specification and delivery of various Security Systems within the Rail & Transit industry.
· Able to Interface with design groups (train control, power systems, fixed facilities, etc.) and with external team members (architects, code consultants, AHJs, major suppliers, etc.).
· Delivery of Design and Interface Control documentation.
· Support of construction and installation activities in the field.
· Support for Test & Commissioning and setting to work of Security Systems in the R&T industry.
What will you contribute?
Skill & Experience:
· Experienced in the design and selection of the various elements of a transit project’s Security and Control systems.
· Knowledge of SCADA control systems will be considered an asset.
· Familiar with the digital design engineering approach: This includes use of AutoCAD software. Experience in BIM and Revit 3D software will be considered an asset.
· Experienced in interfacing to mixed staff design teams in the generation of design documents, drawings and submissions.
· Experience in the generation of technical requirements and specifications
· Accustomed to operating within a multi-disciplinary project structure with responsibility for Communications systems design
· Self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision
· Accustomed to working on multiple projects at one time
· Able to interact with senior staff and technical leads
· Able to interact within discussions with the partners, clients and suppliers and support technically such discussions.
· Able to adapt to changing circumstances
· Able to work in design office, project office and field environments.
· 5+ experience in the design and application of Security Systems in Transit, Automation or similar environments
Travel:
· Must be willing to travel to project sites
· Must be willing to travel to vendor locations
· Must be able to work away from home for periods of time
Qualifications:
· P.Eng designation
