HSE Regional Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented HSE Regional Manager to lead and support all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities across the Ontario region. Reporting the HSE Canada lead and leading the HSE teams in the region the role will provide operational HSE support to projects and teams in our Major Projects, Mining & Metallurgy (M&M), Engineering, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) groups. As a key leader, you will ensure the successful implementation of HSE strategies, foster a culture of safety, and drive compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Your role within the Team

As a member of the Global Health, Safety & Environment team, you will report to the Senior Director HSE and be responsible for:

  • Lead and oversee the regional HSE team, ensuring alignment with corporate HSE goals and objectives.
  • Provide expert operational support to HSE teams on projects across Major Projects, M&M, Engineering, and O&M.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of HSE programs, systems, and policies tailored to the needs of the region and project-specific requirements.
  • Support business development efforts by providing HSE expertise during proposal preparation, client presentations, and project planning phases.
  • Assist in the seamless integration of HSE strategies into new projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to project leaders and operational teams, offering guidance on complex HSE challenges and risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure HSE compliance, including incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action implementation.
  • Monitor regional HSE performance through data analysis, reporting, and audits, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance HSE awareness, engagement, and leadership at all organizational levels.
  • Represent the region in corporate HSE initiatives and ensure regional alignment with company standards.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and training sessions to empower employees and promote a culture of proactive safety management.

Qualifications for the Position

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HSE leadership experience, with a focus on operational support across diverse sectors such as Engineering, Construction, Mining, and O&M.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CRSP, CSP, or equivalent) is an asset.
