Your Role:

As a Principal Bridge Engineer / Chief Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of transportation. Also supporting non-transportation civil engineering and structures projects both locally and internationally. You’ll take pride in crafting high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.

What You'll Do:

• Develop innovative civil and structural designs that enhance infrastructure and make a positive impact on society and the environment.
• Work alongside national and international design teams, leveraging your expertise to create sustainable solutions.
• Oversee the production and review of high-quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Understand client needs and integrate the capabilities of AtkinsRéalis to develop effective solutions.
• Provide guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and capabilities within the team and the wider business.
• Identify new opportunities for growth, bringing value to the business and leading bids and tenders to secure exciting new projects.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

What You Bring:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
• Experience working with key clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities, major contractors, and developers.
• Strong understanding of relevant design standards (e.g., Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW, and Network Rail standards).
• Practical knowledge and experience in bridge design, maintenance, and assessment.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software packages, including LUSAS, MIDAS, and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Proven track record of innovation in the design, maintenance, and supervision of structures-related projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues across various engineering disciplines.
• Solid project management skills, with commercial awareness and financial control to deliver projects across diverse contract types.
