Welcome to AtkinsRéalis, Project & Programme Services.

You might know us for the prestigious construction work we deliver around the world. We're proud to say that this is a result of our people's diversity of thought, skills, and knowledge.

Working in our flat, collaborative environment, you'll lead professionals who enjoy supporting each other to make the most of our talents and expertise.

AtkinsRéalis is a great place to be when it comes to work-life balance. Ask us how our flexible and remote working policies can support your priorities. Valuing each other equally is central to our culture. Some of our recent pledges have been for Women's Equality and being a 'Disability Confident' and 'Inclusive Employer'.

When you join us as a Project Controls Engineer, you’ll share our reputation for high-quality work and always doing what’s right. Your workload will be diverse and exciting. You’ll support project teams on niche and high-profile schemes within complex infrastructure, from evaluating project time, cost, and quality targets to leading communication and monitoring project governance control for successful delivery. You’ll work across a range of projects in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy sectors.

Your Purpose:

  • Support the Project Controls Manager (PCM) to establish, monitor, and manage the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and periodically collate KPIs & progress data related to time, cost, risk, change and quality to report to senior leaders of the project.
  • Support the PCM to develop and implement an appropriate performance measurement system such as earned value management and integrate it into periodic reporting.
  • Support the PCM to develop, improve where required and implement the change control processes of the project. Help facilitate the necessary project level change forums, escalate change papers that require additional approvals and ensure all choices are enacted within the change control system and toolsets. Co-ordinate multiple contributors to conduct change impact assessments and support the Programme Management team in driving agreement on ‘best for Programme’ decisions.
  • Support the PCM to lead periodic and ad-hoc reporting, taking ownership for its quality, accuracy, and robustness, and ensure the monthly project review pack is compiled and presented to the management team on time.
  • Support the PCM to integrate schedule, cost, scope, quality, change and risk data to provide a full picture of project health and provide interpretation of the data contained in monthly reporting pack to support prompt decision making.
  • Support the PCM to undertake maturity assessment to identify areas of improvements and implement change initiatives to improve maturity of project control functions in a project or programme environment.

What you can bring:

  • A passion for working in a consultancy environment.
  • Embracing equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do.
  • A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.
  • Comfortable to embrace agile ways of working and learning new technologies.
  • Knowledge and proven hands-on experience of working in project controls functions within large, complex infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of schedule management, cost management or risk management practices.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a strong aptitude toward working horizontally across business areas and vertically to senior levels of management.
  • Knowledge of transport, energy, major infrastructure, or construction projects (under NEC Forms of Contract), specifically surrounding client and consultancy.
  • Project controls or project management qualification from APM or similar accrediting bodies.
