AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our Edison, New Jersey office.

Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide administrative and operations support.
- Conduct engineering investigations of existing commercial buildings.
- Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
- Prepare assigned sections of reports working under the review of a more experienced professional.
- Collect and analysis of data using established procedures and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
- Travel to client sites for investigations up to 50%
- Assist Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
- Participate on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; assist in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observe construction procedures and collect samples for quality control testing.
- Develop engineering calculations under the supervision of senior structural engineers.
- Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- EXPERIENCE: 0-2 Years experience in a related technical field.
- EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil, structural or architectural engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship
- SPECIAL SKILLS: Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn. Experience with Revit (preferred)
- SPECIAL SKILLS: Must have good computer skills and be able to utilize standard office software.

Expected compensation range is between $22.88 - $38.13 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
