Systems Architect/Engineer

The Systems Architect/Engineer will be reporting to the Digital Solutions Manager. The role is pivotal in helping to create and lead the process of defining and integrating IT systems within the New Build roadmap to meet the organizational requirements. This role will work with key stakeholders to assess current systems and develop detailed architectural models and planning for the New Build Digital roadmap.

Location: Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

  • Assess current architecture, and lead evaluation and selection process for specific workstreams with a goal to drive innovation and improve efficiency.
  • Define and document technology standards, best practices and guidelines for specific workstreams.
  • Step in to resolve technical problems when they arise through understanding of business needs.
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining an architecture plan for each workstream, including data model/architecture.
  • Ensure that all project activities are performed in accordance with corporate standards of ethical compliance, cyber-security, import-export regulations, intellectual property protections and security clearance protocols.
  • Work with vendors (if applicable for workstream) to define architecture based on business requirements and organizational guidelines.
  • Form and maintain relationships with key stakeholders: internal clients, corporate/global entities, suppliers and project stakeholders.
  • Responsible and accountable for all aspects of nuclear and industrial safety including adherence with corporate and customer safety programs, development and enforcement of necessary training and requirements, adherence to corrective action programs and enforcement of performance standards for all of the above.

The ideal candidate:

  • 10+ years’ experience as a systems engineer/architect or similar role, with an in-depth understanding of coding languages, operating systems and databases.
  • Project Management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in a variety of data integration technologies.
  • Strong experience with various engineering design tool packages such as SmartPlant, Aveva, Common Data Environments and Document Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with standards such as ISO 19650, CFIHOS, BIM, etc.
  • Knowledge of business application development, testing, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of nuclear supply chain and materials management principles.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a nuclear environment is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Honours degree in Computer Science, information systems or similar program.
