What is your role at AtkinsRéalis?

I'm a level 3 apprentice on the Data Business Accelerator programme with Multiverse, working towards my Data Technician qualification. My role at AtkinsRéalis is the Bristol Lava Lab Technician, which involves managing the zones within our Lava Lab, supporting our clients and employees in increasing collaboration through project delivery and developing databases to monitor Lava Lab activities. 

Recently, I've had the opportunity to present our digital capabilities at the Lava Labs to our nuclear clients, providing guidance and encouraging usage. Soon, I will be supporting a session for Next Tech Girls at the London Lava Labs, inspiring other young women to pursue a career in technology. 

What is the best thing about your job?

The two best things about my job are the variety of different people from different markets I get to meet and the opportunity to travel. As we have Lava Labs across the globe, we all help to support each other in growing our capabilities and sharing knowledge and ideas. Although we mainly focus on supporting our nuclear clients within the Bristol Lava Labs, I can also engage with clients and employees across the organization. My team has a wealth of knowledge, allowing me to learn and develop alongside experts in their field. 

When have you felt most proud to be an AtkinsRéalis employee?

In my first four months of being an AtkinsRéalis employee, it has been hosting our Show Your Culture event in the Bristol Lava Labs for Black History Month. AtkinsRealis has a range of different communities you can join. As members of the Embrace network, we all supported each other in hosting this event throughout October. It gave employees a chance to come together and share food from across the globe.

What makes a good day at work?

A good day at work mainly consists of hosting a successful client event or showcase. On average, we have around four bookings in our Immersive Room each week. Ranging from design reviews to Virtual Site Access or a Tech Lab. As the Lava Lab Technician, I'm responsible for supporting each booking from start to finish, from planning to execution.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining AtkinsRéalis?

AtkinsRéalis is a place to thrive. As an apprentice, just setting foot into the world of work will expose you to many new innovative ideas and allow you to meet experts in their field. AtkinsRéalis continually encourages you to develop yourself and follow your curiosity. There are so many opportunities for you to grow. It's just up to you to chase them. If you're excited about learning something new.
