The Highway Construction Administrator will be focused on MTO projects, and responsible to provide CA services to deliver complex Ontario Highway construction projects. They will oversee site staff on one or more projects, and will assist in building a strong construction services team. They will take a role in CA project proposal preparation, and will act as the CA on one or more (depending on scope and complexity) such projects at any given time.

Your role within the team:

  • Perform the role of Construction Administrator (CA) and oversee site inspectors to deliver complex MTO construction projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate project staff and sub-consultants to deliver CA services, and provide leadership within the Ontario civil engineering practice’s mandate to grow a strong construction services team.
  • Pursue business development and lead proposal preparation for highway engineering and other CA projects.
  • Mentor, guide and grow the team of construction administration site staff of technicians and engineers in efficient delivery of high quality work that meets MTO requirements.
  • Embrace behaviour-based safety, maintain a healthy and safe workplace, and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and legislation, including occupational health and safety, WHMIS and hazardous substances programs.

The ideal candidate:

  • Possess strong credentials as a CA for Ontario Provincial Highway projects, with proven credibility with the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) an understanding of MTO processes, standards and procedures
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of highway design, permit processes and construction in Ontario including all applicable laws and regulations regarding construction, soils management, and health and safety.
  • Must be qualified to be approved by MTO in RAQS and registered in the High Complexity CA specialty
  • Proficiency in the use of Construction Management System tools, such as MTO’s new Kahua CMS, Aurigo, Builterra and equivalent applications, as well working knowledge of all standard engineering office software.
  • Ontario P.Eng., or CET and rcca designation
  • Valid driver’s license and a vehicle, and willingness to work on construction sites.
