Overview
At AtkinsRéalis, we are committed to engineering a better future for our planet and its people. Our Western Canada Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager to join our growing team.
In this role, you will lead the design and execution of complex projects across sectors such as industrial (including mining), nuclear, commercial, healthcare, municipal, federal, transit, ports, and education. You will also drive client development, strategic planning, and team leadership while ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.
Your role
- Manage mechanical engineering deliverables in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Lead and support business development initiatives for the Mechanical Engineering group in Western Canada.
- Participate in strategic planning and implement divisional initiatives. Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business growth.
- Champion sustainability initiatives locally and corporately. Resolve complex design and execution challenges through innovative solutions.
- Apply project management principles to oversee projects and mentor team members. Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and project delivery efficiency.
- Manage resource allocation, recruitment, performance reviews, and staff development. Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to ensure quality and compliance.
- Prepare and approve estimates, proposals, and technical bid evaluations.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients. Ensure all team members are properly trained and qualified.
- Oversee QA/QC processes for accuracy and consistency of deliverables. Provide technical support during construction activities.

About you
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration (or eligibility) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGM, PEO, APEGA, APEGS, or EGBC.
- 10 to 20 years of progressive experience in heavy industrial projects and building mechanical systems as both a Lead Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager.
- Experience preparing proposals, data sheets, specifications, and technical bid evaluations. Strong client focus with experience in business development, marketing, and RFP responses.
- Detailed design and equipment specification experience in sectors such as nuclear facilities, chemical plants, refineries, mining, or mineral processing.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and interdisciplinary coordination. Strong understanding of engineering methods, technologies, and computerized design techniques.
- Proficiency in design of tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, materials handling systems, process equipment, steam systems, compressed air systems, utilities, HVAC systems, potable water, and sanitary systems.
- Sound engineering judgment and decision-making ability. Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage resources effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
