Consultant / Senior Consultant – Technical Advisor

We have a strong pipeline of Lenders Technical Advisory (LTA) and Public Private Partnerships (PPP) advisory work and are looking to recruit a consultant / senior consultant in our Cities & Infrastructure Advisory team. Our advisory team works with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), public authorities, project developers and sponsors, and commercial banks from investment identification through due diligence to project monitoring in the Construction and Operation and Maintenance (O & M) phases. You will work closely with the technical advisory lead, and market lead to develop business and deliver projects. We are looking for highly motivated people with an appetite to learn and develop his/her career in a true multi-disciplinary practice. The position is based in the UK in the Epsom or London office ideally, but candidates must be open to frequent international travel and periods of time abroad – especially to the Middle East.

 Key Responsibilities:

Technical Due Diligence:

  • Contribute to comprehensive technical due diligences on large-scale water projects (desalination, wastewater, water conveyance systems etc.)  to assess potential risks and project feasibility.
  • Review and analyse technical reports, designs, and specifications to provide informed recommendations.

Technical Analysis and Reporting:

  • Apply technical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills to interpret complex data and advise non-technical clients in an accessible manner.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

Project Monitoring and Support:

  • Monitor project progress and provide ongoing technical advice regarding adherence to project timelines, costs and quality standards.

Proposal Development and Governance:

  • Contribute to the development of proposals, including internal governance processes, scopes of work, scheduling, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure that all proposals align with client requirements and industry best practices.

Project Management:

  • Project manage and coordinate technical inputs on major infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless integration of all technical aspects.

Internal Development:

  • Complete internal development tasks to enhance the functionality and efficiency of our technical advisory service line.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and innovations to continuously improve our service offerings.

Business Development:

  • Assist in business development initiatives and campaigns to expand our client base and market presence.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an engineering related discipline and will be chartered with a recognised relevant professional body (or keen to work towards it).
  • Technical background in either of the following disciplines is looked positively: process engineering, civil engineering, MEICA.
  • Track record in transaction advisory ideally in water projects. Experience in other infrastructure fields or other parties (e.g., project developers) welcomed.
  • Good understanding of PPP procurement model and its varieties (BOT, BOOT, DBOs etc.).
  • Good understanding of financial models including contractual / commercial mechanisms (liquidated damages, bond sizing, limits of liability etc.).
  • A good understanding of environmental, social governance, and health and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary to deliver clear, high-quality reports and effectively manage client relationships.
  • Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills which can be tailored to a range of audiences, seniorities and technical competencies.
  • The role will be predominantly in English. However, proficiency of additional languages (Arabic, Spanish, French) will be considered advantageous.
  • The role might require international trips to visit projects / clients.
  • Eagerness to lead, support and develop direct reports within a team.

Security clearance:
