Director, Configuration Management

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Manage the project engineering change control program, including oversight of the safety-related and non-safety-related design changes and production of related project and internal documentation.
  • Procurement and delivery of engineering tools for use within the Candu Energy in the execution of our engineering scopes of work.  Tools include, but are not limited to, internal Engineering Tools (myTRAK, CMMS, etc), N290.7 engineering software, and requirements tracking toolset (e.g., DOORS).
  • Manage the production of the 3D model of the contracted Cernavoda 3/4 buildings and the integration with the 3D model work produced by the JV members.
  • Implement and oversee the production of the integrated dataset, including production and management of any required procedures, for the overall project requirements tracking database (currently anticipated to be DOORS™).
  • Responsible for developing and implementing Engineering Plans for the project, or phase of the project, for all pertinent scopes of work.
  • Technical integration and interface control both within the project across the various disciplines involved, with the JV members, and with the client.
  • Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are working on the project and are assigned work within their experience and skills.
  • Provides guidance, technical insight, supervision and feedback to the Technical Managers/Technical Leads that are part of his/her team.
  • Oversight of technical deliverables budget, schedule and quality.
  • Ensure that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear code and standards.
  • Review and approve key technical documentation for the project, or phase of the project.
  • Monitoring the technical quality of engineering deliverables for the project, or phase of the project.
  • Identifying and proposing improvements in the areas of the project – both proactively and in response to customer requirements.
  • Liaise with external client engineering organization at the behest of the Project Engineering Director regarding the configuration management matters.
  • Liaise with Joint Venture partner engineering organizations at the behest of the Project Engineering Director regarding all configuration management matters.

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, or Instrumentation and Control, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field .
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear engineering, with a focus on design and project management.
  • P.Eng registration with PEO or equivalent required.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented self-starter with strong engineering and people management skills and experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and large-scale projects.
  • Experience with supervision, oversight and plant site maintenance resulting in increased efficiencies and the customization of specialized teams to enhance overall performance.
  • Knowledge of  the nuclear industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Training experience to develop and execute increased process improvements through the development of programs to address the improvement of work control and efficiency practices.
  • Uses visionary qualities to look ahead and act on new opportunities and in full support of client goals.
