The Engineering services group in Sudbury, Ontario provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the educational, institutional, commercial, recreational, and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects are varied and diverse.  The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.

We currently have many educational, health care, institutional, retail, and multi-unit residential projects. We are looking for an intermediate Electrical Engineer with minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical design for buildings, including Building Power, Lighting, Fire Protection, Network Cabling, Security, and Communications systems to join our growing team.

Your role will within the team

  • Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects. Preparation of electrical  specifications.
  • Attendance to client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
  • Obtaining information from equipment suppliers and incorporate in designs and specifications. Preparation of engineering calculations.
  • Co-ordinating with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
  • Preparation of schematics, project documents. Independent review of shop drawings.
  • Review of quotations from contractors.
  • Providing technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.

The ideal candidate

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible to be registered.
  • Minimum 5 years’ design experience. Demonstrated track record of electrical design of complex building systems.
  • Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, REVIT, Word, Acrobat & Excel (Micro Station, Power simulation software and other design tools an asset).
  • Familiarity with design requirements for Building Power, Lighting, fire protection, and Communications systems. Familiarity with relevant building codes including, OBC, OECS, ASHRAE, CSA.
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills. Commitment to working in a team environment. Ability to work on several projects at one time.
