The joint venture between Atkins Realis and Aecon known as CanAtom has been awarded two contracts with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) project and the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler Replacement.


The Human Resources Co-ordinator will report to the JV HR Manager. This position will act as an advisor for the CanAtom Projects by providing coaching to Managers and Employees regarding HR policies, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, training & development and recruitment.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Advise and administer human resources policies, procedures, and programs;
  • Advise and administer talent development and succession planning initiatives;
  • Monitor the talent assessment and performance evaluation process. Provide counsel and advice to Managers on these processes;
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to schedule and participate in interviews as needed; Conduct interviews, explaining benefits summaries, company culture, long-term vision for position, and any other applicable information for candidates; Provide feedback to applicants and candidates who have applied and/or been interviewed; Make recommendations for hire;
  • Assist with the administration of the Projects’ Resource Management Plans; including maintaining project rosters and employee files such as Project Assignment Letters.
  • Coordinate with Home Office/Project Management and the CanAtom training team to facilitate and organize onboarding and training plans for new employees.
  • Participates in the development of employee engagement activities necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Prepare organizational announcements and human resources communications as required;
  • Special human resources projects based on project needs;
  • All other duties as assigned.

What will you contribute?

  • Post-secondary school education in Human Resources Management
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator
  • Microsoft Office Products
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems (Workday is considered an asset) 
  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
  • Team oriented
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to influence
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and enjoy working in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Ability to pass Ontario Power Generation and Candu Energy Inc. Security Clearances.
