The Engineering Services group in Sudbury, ON provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the commercial, institutional, recreational and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects and varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician with minimum 10 years’ experience in Electrical design for many types of buildings. This is a position that will allow for growth in leadership of an electrical design team.

Your role within the team

• Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review, understand and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements.
• Develop strategies to Identify and manage project risks and potential liabilities.
• Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors and other consultants.
• Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations.
• Lead production all required engineering documents in schematic design, design development and working drawings.
• Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor’s conformance to design requirements.

The ideal candidate 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technologist. Professional Engineering License, or eligible to be registered, in the Province of Ontario.
• 8-10+ years’ experience in the electrical consulting or construction industries. Have a solid understanding of building systems engineering, preferably for educational, health care, offices, municipal infrastructure, and commercial facilities.
• Demonstrate experience building and maintaining long term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing the business).
• Computer Skills – MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills in English. French is an asset but not required.
