Senior Mechanical CAD Designer

CANDU Energy Inc./ AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical CAD Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as, new build in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

This position requires working on fast paced technically complex projects in the nuclear industries. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following:

  • Reviewing the status of existing buildings prior to project design, performing site take offs.
  • Assist in developing designs and technical specifications for systems such as Heating, Air conditioning, Ventilation, boilers, plumbing, chilled water, building controls, along with other related systems.
  • Assisting others in the office with several projects – a knowledge sharing atmosphere.
  • Preparing drawings and construction documents.
  • Coordinating system requirements with the electrical department, architects, relevant authorities.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections to review progress of construction.

The ideal candidate:

  • College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 years in mechanical design and drafting.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D is a must.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Smart Plant 3D/Smart. Micro Station, Navisworks Manage and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.
  • ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
