Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings is responsible for working with AtkinsRéalis Engineering's multidisciplinary team to grow the team and the business in Vancouver by engaging new clients and architect firms and being the face of the team for the specific markets of Institutional and Healthcare business.

AtkinsRéalis has extensive experience in developing healthcare facilities across Canada and this candidate should be ready to grow in their career and become a Structural Area Lead.

Your role within the team

  • Preparation of proposals and participation in business development activities including strategy and implementation.

  • Perform periodic site visits and attend client meetings. Mentor and develop technical staff.

  • Development of reports and contract documents, including construction drawings and technical specifications.

  • Oversee schematic and detailed designs and evaluation of planning and concept alternatives.

  • Work with the Manager of Engineering to ensure the quality of detailing is consistent with the Company’s standards.

  • Collaborating on larger-scale project pursuits where external design services are required.

  • Project Management; provide feedback to the project lead regarding the ability to maintain the requested schedule.

The ideal candidate 

  • Degree in Structural Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng). Struct.Eng Designation in Vancouver.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering practice, in large-scale projects for Institutional and Healthcare facilities. (local experience in BC and/or City Vancouver is an asset).

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Concrete, Steel, and Wood design in Institutional, Residential, or Commercial design, with superior knowledge of building science, seismic, and construction techniques. Experience with the National Building Code of Canada.

  • Exceptional Business Development Skills (seller/doer). Holding good relationships with Vancouver City Development and local Architects.

  • Proficient in Etabs, Safe, Staad Pro, applications.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $109,000 - $150,000 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
