We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis seeks a Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Supervisor to join our team in Greensboro, NC. This role will supervise day-to-day activity for their shift which is responsible for managing traffic congestion on roadways throughout the state and responding to planned and unplanned traffic incidents including road work, vehicle crashes, and major adverse weather. TOC staff use an array of technologies to monitor and detect traffic incidents, to prevent and resolve traffic impacts, and to interface with emergency responders and the traveling public. Successful TOC Supervisors are complex problem-solvers, conscientious leaders, and effective communicators.

The TOC Supervisor position is available for the 2nd Shift (1:10pm - 9:40pm). Due to the nature of our industry and the TOC’s 24/7/365 hours of operation, candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays as needed. TOC Supervisors are directly responsible for managing TOC staff on their assigned shifts but are expected to support and supervise other control room staff as needed.

How will you contribute to the team?

In this role, as a TOC Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following activities, including but not limited to, the following:

  • Monitoring daily performance of traffic operators and the lead traffic operators.

  • Timely submission of daily, weekly, bi-weekly reporting on traffic signal system performance for timing/system adjustments; inter-agency coordination for implementation of incident management timing plans in response to incidents.

  • Troubleshooting traffic signal system and sub-system performance based on experience in operating data video communications network and systems.

  • Performance metrics generation and reporting oversight.

  • Performs such other duties as needed to support the STOC operations.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, with 3+ years of experience in operations delivery and/or staff management. Without a bachelor’s degree, 6+ years of experience in project management and operations experience, (e.g., experience in a traffic operations center, supervisory experience [such as hands-on supervision, performance management, handling disciplinary/personnel issues, staffing/interviewing, scheduling, and coaching/training], and/or relevant general business experience) is required. Must be proficient with computer skills.

  • Training, academic exposure or in-depth knowledge of traffic signal system monitoring and maintenance.

  • Implementation of the QA/QC policies.

  • Experience with ITS projects including installation and testing of ITS/communication systems and devices

  • Experience with testing and acceptance specifications necessary for a completely verified ITS implementation.

  • Experience in fine tuning/calibration and updating and modification of Traffic signal systems.
