Our expert team specializes in managing environmental liability through comprehensive site investigations, risk assessments, and customized remediation and risk management plans.

We have one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Whitehorse, Yukon team. 

This position would be comprised of 50% field work and 50% office work and would help to support growth of the office while working on projects locally in the Yukon, NWT and northern B.C., as well as providing support across Canada and internationally where needed.

Your role within the team:

  • Historical data review and subsequent site inspections.
  • Groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  • Hydraulic conductivity testing.
  • Surface soil and water sampling.
  • Soil vapour sampling.
  • Supervision of drilling activities.
  • Installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Supervision of remedial excavations.
  • Photographic and written documentation of site activities.
  • Communication with on-site personnel and Project Manager.
  • Assist in communicating and building relationships with clients.
  • Promoting Health and Safety programs and culture.
  • Working as a team with other regions as opportunities arise.

The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter.  Eligibility for professional designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) including groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, various drilling techniques, soil sample collection and logging, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and quality assurance / quality control protocols.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience encompassing project execution, contractor supervision, and project coordination.
  • Candidates with experience working in the north and in the mining sector are preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, highly motivated, strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
  • Willing to undertake field work year-round and travel throughout Northern and Western Canada, at times for extended periods (weeks).
  • Work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and businesses, support the communities in which we work.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety programs and culture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
