The position is a student co-op position. Functionally reporting to the Cernavoda-34 project management. The student will be assigned to support various tasks in support of engineering and project management on as needed basis. The role will provide the student with learning opportunity on technical, engineering interfaces and management aspects in the nuclear industry through training, mentoring and on-the-job experiences.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Provide support to Engineers, Discipline Leads Engineering Managers, and Project Managers in day-to-day project activities.
  • Assist in development and assembly of engineering/design deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems.
  • Assist in delivering work in accordance with Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
  • Interface with other disciplines and other project sectors (e.g., Document Control, Procurement, etc.) for coordination on task scopes assigned.
  • Collaborate with members of the team to facilitate the general workflow (e.g., coordinate document reviews and Request for Information (RFI) correspondences).
  • Attend technical and project coordination meetings and prepare minutes of meetings.
  • Maintain project tracking files/databases and assist with engineering progress reporting.

The ideal candidate:

  • Currently enrolled in Electrical, Controls and/or Computer Engineering/Science Program with an accredited Canadian University.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is mandatory.
  • Sound knowledge in engineering fundamentals and basic principles of Electrical, Controls and/or Computer Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to apply learned engineering principles in developing practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-related software applications, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge/prior working experiences in nuclear industry is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical and design tools (e.g., MATLAB, ETAP and/or MathCAD) is an asset.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with strong multi-tasking coordination skills;
  • Strong inter-personal skills.
  • Fluency in communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability to change and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
