Responsibilities:

The work is varied and may include some or all the responsibilities mentioned below:

  • Design and development of nuclear steam supply systems, nuclear auxiliary systems, and nuclear safety systems.
  • Design and development of nuclear fuel handling and waste management facilities.
  • Design and engineering reactor components such as calandria, calandria tubes, coolant channels, shutdown mechanisms, etc.
  • Preparation of conceptual and detail design packages, including optioneering, design development, and concept evaluation.
  • Design and implementation of engineering changes/system upgrades in brown field projects.
  • Production of design documentation.
  • Equipment selection (including material selection) and procurement including technical bid evaluation, vendor drawing review.
  • Production of manufacturing packages, coordination with manufacturer/contractor, review of vendor drawings/documents.
  • Witness the pre-commissioning/commissioning activities by the contractor/vendor and produce/review all relevant documentation.
  • Preparation of equipment specifications, technical risk assessments, commissioning strategies, cost and programme estimations.
  • Preparation of design specifications to define and determine performance criteria for component upgrades.
  • Strategy development for in-service inspection and testing.
  • Production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings/models and bill of materials.
  • Development of project technical proposals, scopes, schedules and budget estimates.
  • Operational improvement and life extension studies.

Requirements:

  • Suitable degree in engineering with 6 to 20 years of experience in a highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Experience in design and engineering of nuclear power plant systems such as reactor coolant systems, reactor shutdown/regulation systems, reactor components, emergency core cooling or safety systems.
  • Experience in design and engineering of nuclear fuel handling systems or other auxiliary systems including cooling water systems.
  • Experience in design and engineering of nuclear fuel reprocessing and/or waste management facilities.
  • Experience in design and engineering in one of the following disciplines: process engineering, mechanical engineering, control and instrumentation engineering, electrical engineering, piping engineering, reactor physics, fuel design.
  • Ability to carry out detailed design, analysis and review others work.
  • Strong delivery culture, maintaining strict timelines is must.
  • Proven computer aptitude, and expertise in MS office. 
  • Familiar with international design codes and standards applicable to nuclear industry and recommended practices pertaining to design, fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, quality assurance and quality control.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of team, flexible attitude to the type of work and the level of responsibility accepted.
  • Exposure to field installation, commissioning and testing of design changes.
  • Ability to understand and define client’s requirements, plan and schedule deliverables, timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed and concise technical reports (e.g. design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case support references).
  • Flexible to relocate to AtkinsRéalis India Office Locations (Bangalore/Gurgaon/Mumbai) flexible in travelling to AtkinsRéalis and client’s office locations around the world, if required.
