AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our NEPA Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Jacksonville, FL at the FDOT Jacksonville Urban Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Coordination and Communication 

  • Serve as the primary contact between FDOT and the Gainesville MTPO for all planning and project matters. 

  • Participate in MTPO and FDOT meetings, workshops, and public engagement events to share information and gather input. 

  • Ensure that transportation priorities, policies, and plans are aligned across state and regional levels. 

  • Transportation Planning Support 

  • Collaborate with the MTPO to develop and review key planning documents, including the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). 

  • Provide technical guidance on the integration of FDOT projects into MTPO planning processes. 

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines for transportation planning. 

  • Project Coordination 

  • Monitor the progress of FDOT projects within the Gainesville MTPO region, ensuring the MTPO is kept current on project timelines, objectives and progress. 

  • Facilitate communication on multimodal transportation initiatives, such as transit, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Build and maintain relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration. 

  • Represent FDOT at public hearings, community forums, and stakeholder meetings, providing updates and gathering feedback on transportation projects. 
     

  • Reporting and Documentation 

  • Prepare reports summarizing activities, decisions, and project updates for both FDOT and MTPO leadership. 

  • Maintain accurate records of coordination efforts, ensuring transparency and accountability. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience since Bachelor's or one year since Master's in transportation planning, project management, or a related field. 

  • EDUCATION: Bachelors or Masters degree in planning or related field.  

  • SPECIAL SKILLS:  

  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation policies, including funding programs and planning regulations. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with GIS or transportation planning tools 

  • PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: N/A
