Meet Jean-Philippe: A visionary in transport planning

What is your role at AtkinsRéalis?

"I lead projects and a fantastic team within the Eastern Canada Transport Planning group. Essentially, our core mission is to optimize how people move. 

Whether it's designing smarter traffic lights, creating dedicated bus lanes, or carving out safe, inviting bike paths, every project aims to enhance human mobility and connection. It’s all about making journeys smoother, safer, and more sustainable."

What's the most exhilarating aspect of your job?

"The sheer joy of finding solutions to complex problems, especially in the realm of human mobility! It's a fascinating field that seamlessly blends advanced technology, intricate human behavior, and robust engineering. 

I believe that getting to work, or simply meeting friends in a park, should never be difficult, dangerous, or polluting. My work directly addresses these challenges, leading to concrete, positive changes for citizens and their communities. Knowing that my efforts contribute to a better quality of life for real people is incredibly rewarding."

What makes working at AtkinsRéalis so special for you?

"Being a transport planner here means I'm constantly in contact with an incredibly diverse community of brilliant minds. There’s this amazing buzz of initiatives that truly empower everyone to be a vital player in the company's success.

"Jim Thompson's Wild Town. It's a gritty reminder that we should always be discerning and wary of those who lack integrity."

Do you have a favorite quote or motto that guides you?

"Absolutely: 'Today is the first day of the rest of your life.' It's a simple truth that often gives me a much-needed push when project deadlines are piling up. It reminds me to approach each new day with fresh energy and determination."
