Civil and Utility Design Engineer

Overview

As a member of the Municipal Infrastructure team within the Civil Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for Canada, you will work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment, supporting the delivery of major Transit Rail and civil infrastructure projects.

As a Civil and Utility Design Engineer, you will support the design and coordination of municipal utility systems, working under the guidance of senior engineers while taking increasing responsibility for design deliverables. You will contribute to the development of technical solutions, preparation of drawings, and coordination across disciplines and stakeholders.

Your role

  • Prepare civil and utility design of municipal infrastructure including engineering drawings, plans, profiles, sections specifications and reports.

  • Coordinate with internal disciplines (road, rail, structural, environmental) to ensure integrated design delivery.

  • Assist in utility coordination, including reviewing conflicts, participating in clash detection, and supporting resolution efforts.

  • Ensure designs adhere to municipal standards, codes, and project specifications.

  • Participate in the preparation and management of design packages and deliverables, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Liaise with project team members and support communication with clients, municipalities, and utility agencies as required.

  • Support QA/QC processes and contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution, and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

  • 4-7 years of experience in municipal infrastructure and utility design.

  • Proven experience in civil and utility design, coordination and multidisciplinary project environments.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with BIM tools is an asset.

  • Familiarity with BIM 360, ProjectWise, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of Ontario municipal standards, guidelines, and approval processes & prior experience of working on Transit Rail projects would be an asset.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Valid Driver's License is required.

Expected compensation for this role is between $75,600 - $104,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
